Bleach For Toenail Fungus

Bleach is a chemical substance that some people have used to try and stop toenail fungus in its tracks. Although commonly used as a household product for whitening clothes or as a disinfecting agent, bleach has found its way into killing toenail fungus as well.

With over 35 million people in America suffering for this condition, it is no wonder why foot doctors are making huge amount of money trying to eradicate the disease. At an approximate cost of $1000 US dollars for foot laser treatment you can see why this is a big business.

One of the biggest problems with toenail fungus is that it is extremely difficult to treat, because the fungus grows under the toenail itself. The toenail serves to protect the toes from any distress or being crushed by large objects falling on them, however, the protecting element now unfortunately protects the fungus allowing it to grow and spread. The trick is to be able to get under the toenail to treat the fungus. There in lays the problem.

Ok, so this is how you can treat your toenail fungus with bleach.

So the first step is to cut the infected toenail shorter. This will allow the bleach to penetrate further underneath the nail plate. File the nail down too, using an emery board. This will also help the bleach  penetrate further, because the nails is now a little more porous, yet again letting the bleach reach further.

Now to get the bleach to water ratio right.

The more bleached used the better, however, soaking your foot in bleach for 30 minutes a day can cause skin irritations, especially if you have sensitive skin, therefore it is advisable to use one tablespoon of bleach to a gallon of water. Clorox bleach has been used by toenail fungus suffers.

Next soak the infected foot in the bleach mixture for up to 30 minutes a day twice a day. The bleach will then be able to penetrate underneath the nail plate and kill the fungus that live there. Unfortunately, one treatment is not enough to kill the fungus. You will have to continually use the method for months on end, until the infection subsides.

The most important part of this treatment it to be diligent. Once the fungus has a hold of your toenail, it holds on for dear life and can regenerate very quickly, which will cause the problem to come back.
